'''Perinneradiotapahtuma''' on kaksi kertaa vuosittain järjestettävä valtakunnallinen tapahtuma, jossa amatööriradioasemat ottavat yhteyksiä toisiinsa joko [[sähkötys|sähkötyksellä]] tai [[puheella]]. Puhemodulaationa ei käytetä tavanomaista yksinauhalähetystä, SSB:ä, koska tapahtuma, joka aluksi oli tarkoitettu vain sodanaikaisille radioille, ei ollut toisen maailmansodan aikana vielä käytössä yksinauhalähetystä, vaan kahtoaallon ja kummankin sivunauhan sisältävä [[amplitudimodulaatio|llaajuusmoduloitu]] lähetys, jota edelleen käytetään [[yleisradio]]issa [[pitkien aaltojen alue|pitkien]], [[keskipitkien aaltojen alue|keskipitkien]] ja [[llyhyiden aaltojen aaltoalue|lyhyiden aaltojen]] alueen lähetyksissä.
Perinneradiotapahtuma kestää kello 8:sta kello 18:aan. Siihen ovat osallistuneet tai osallistuvat mm. etelähämäläiset [[OH3CT]], [[OH3NVK]], [[OH3SVM]], [[OH3VV]] ja [[OH3W]].


Puolustusvoimien lipun juhlapäivänä 4. kesäkuuta 2014 järjestetään Suomen 18. perinneradiotapahtuma, jossa ensimmäistä kertaa ei ole johtomasemaa ja johon saavat ottaa osaa sodanaikaisten /SA -radiosemien ja sodanjälkeisten perinneradioiden /S -radioasemien lisäksi nykyaikaiset radioasemat.

Tapahtumaa voi seurata perusluokan tai yleisluokan radioamatööritutkintoa suorittamatta, amatööriradiolähetinlupaa hankkimatta ja vuotuista 18,13 €:n radiotaajuusmaksua maksamatta maailmanradiolla tai liikennevastaanottimella tai alankomaalaiseen verkko-ohjelmistoradio-ohjelmaan http://websdr.org kuuluvalla virolaisella ohjelmistoradiovastaanottimella http://websdr.ham.ee:8901 javallisella verkkoselaimella. Kesäkuussa 2014 kuitenkin radiosää 80 metrin aaltoalueella ei ole erityisen hyvä. Taajuudet, joilla jotkin asemat päivystävät, eivät kuitenkaan osu verkko-ohjelmistoradion vastaanottoalueelle, joten silloin, jos liikenne siirtyy alueille 3656 kHz - 3704 kHz tai 7050 kHz - 7098 kHz, on Internet-vastaanotto verkkoselaimella mahdollinen.
 
Päijät-Hämeestä tapahtumaan ovat osallistuneet mm. [[Hämeen Radioharrastajat]], [[OH3ACA]] ja yksityinen amatööriradioasema [[OH3HB]] sekä vanhalla sodanaikaisella radiolla /SA että muulla vanhalla radiolla /S.

Perinneradiotapahtuma on joko Suomen itsenäiseksi julistamispäivän ja puolustusvoimain lippujuhlapäivän aikana tai niiden lähellä järjestettävä radiotapahtuma, jossa käytetään sodanaikaisia radioita amplitudimoduloidulla puheella tai sähkötyksellä. Toisen maailmansodan aikana yksinauhalähetys ei ollut vielä käytössä, joten sen vuoksi myös muun kuin yleisradiolähetysten, jotka edelleen ovat pitkillä aalloilla ja keskipitkillä aalloilla ampitudimoduloituja, käytettiin myös sotilaskenttäradioissa.

Perinneradiotapahtuma kestää kello 8:sta kello 18:aan. Siihen ovat osallistuneet tai osallistuvat mm. etelähämäläiset OH3CT, OH3NVK, OH3SVM, OH3VV ja OH3W.
